Designing for the next generation of an iconic family wine company.
As a creative and strategic partner to Brown Brothers, The Edison Agency were invited to develop a new identity strategy and design system for the Brown Brothers parent company —newly named the Brown Family Wine Group. For over 130 years Brown Brothers have established themselves as leading wine makers and are one of the select few businesses who make up the Australia’s First Family of Wines group. They have built a reputation in creating new wine varieties and taking an innovative approach to wine making — their success has seen them evolve from a single brand to a family of brands including Brown Brothers, Tamar Ridge, Innocent Bystander, Pirie and Devil’s Corner.

In choosing the name it was imperative that family was at the heart of it so that people could see we remain a fiercely independent family wine company that is positioning itself for generations to come”
The Edison Agency worked closely with Caroline Brown, a fourth generation member of the Brown family, in developing the naming strategy, brandmark design and visual language system that captures the warmth, humility and progressive spirit of the business. The new word-mark and monogram hero’s the wine — integrating a single droplet into a beautifully crafted “B” and draws on the natural colours of the native landscape of the Milawa, home to the first Brown Brothers vines. The result is a visual language system that is classic, beautiful and bold — a nod to the past and a big leap forward into the future.
