In Australia, sadly statistics show that 1 in 4 women experience intimate partner violence and domestic and family violence is the principal cause of homelessness for women and their children. Next Steps Australia (NSA) emering from a vision sparked by Chairperson Bernadette Blair, who recognized a critical need to provide essential manchester items to women and children escaping domestic violence, sought to amplify its voice to attract more funding, and increase community impact.
As part of Edison’s DESIGN for GOOD program to provide pro-bono work for social change, we partnered with NSA to revamp their brand identity, developing a design strategy and identity system that could extend from brandmark to business cards and amplify the voice of NSA to create a cohesive visual language that communicates NSA's mission across all touchpoints.
The new brand system, designed with a human-centered approach, featured a warm, gentle, and strong aesthetic. Symbolism of home security, a calm color palette, handcrafted patterns, and modern illustrations conveyed warmth and empathy. This cohesive brand platform included a brand asset library, style guide, templates, and collateral.
Serving the needs of NSA to present their value as a viable community partner of choice, the new visual language and collateral quickly resulted in securing an additional $300k funding across three years which will contribute to more Starter and Family Packs distributed to national women’s refuges in need.
