evolving a 125-year old family owned brand for today’s adventurous wine drinker
Brown Brothers is a family-owned Australian brand with a rich history of over 125 years in wine making. The Edison Agency were engaged by the iconic family owned business to develop a new portfolio architecture strategy and visual identity system to strengthen their visibility in the retail environment and create greater continuity across their diverse range of over 60 wines.
“Evolving a brand with such strong regional pedigree and emotive nostalgia required a thorough and collaborative research process” says agency Founder Amber Bonney. It was important for the strategy and design team to fully appreciate the origins of the brand, its physical and spiritual home in picturesque Milawa and the significant historical milestones that led to the brand’s successes. Edison’s focus was to bring to life the DNA of the Brown Brothers brand — warm, accessible, grounded, classic — and help the business to amplify its vision “to create and share adventures in wine”.
The strategic design resolution focused on re-igniting the strength of its bygone era while making it relevant for today’s progressive wine consumer. The new brandmark and visual identity system celebrates the classic origins of the brand with a progressive step forward for it’s future growth and innovative ambitions.
